Whatsoever things......

Life seems full of a million goals, or all the things I hope to achieve, or I dream of changing in my life! But one that I think ought to be a lifetime goal of mine is based from the Scriptures in Philippians 4:8. The Message says:

8-9Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

The Amplified Bible says:
8For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].

The one I memorized decades ago (but don't ask me to quote it or you'll just get the Karen paraphrase!) is from NIV:

8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.


I have found that since putting more effort in thinking on the positive and trying throughout my day to turn my attention more onto the Lord (the Best of the Bests!) the better my days go. I am not empowering the negatives in my life by pondering on them. I am taking stock of my emotions as if they are immediate feedback on what my thought life is up to, and then I know immediately if I am in need of action to change what I'm thinking about.

I am winning at this....for I can do ALL THINGS thru Christ who strengthens me.
