Like I shared yesterday in Forced Medications I find this story about Maryanne Godboldo very disturbing. That a parents rights to choose medical care for their child (or change treatments) have been brutally attacked is scary. Does our society and our authorities think that parents are totally uneducated and incapable of taking care of our own children and must rely on those in authority to make those decisions for us? We can't even be trusted to make healthy bag lunches! (granted not all children eat healthy bag lunches, but who thinks cafeteria food is necessarily healthier?)
The Maryanne Godboldo question: When do parents have the right to shoot back against state-sponsored kidnappers?

Think For Ourselves
Everette had our weekly 'coffee date' this morning. Its often the time we can connect and discuss the agenda for our Sunday afternoon Family Meeting with the children.
Sometimes we discuss his growing business. Or we discuss books we've been reading. Or how I'm dealing (or not) with school or family issues on a daily basis. Or some habits we need to address, or the growth we see in individual children.
This morning we actually talked quite a lot about our society of sheeple (people being gullible as sheep), and how we need to take responsibility for ourselves, and help our children think for themselves. I reminisced about John Taylor Gatto's book "Dumbing Us Down" we used for discussion at a homeschool group up island. How we are conditioned in many ways to disengage from our world and do as we are told.
Then I came home to read this about the USA.... (Canada has very much the same system/mindsets as our cousins to the south)
Last-minute budget deal narrowly avoids the Big Government shutdown America desperately needs to balance its budgetThen I came home to read this about the USA.... (Canada has very much the same system/mindsets as our cousins to the south)
Can the ball be stopped? Maybe. I don't think it will be.
But I will continue to think for myself (freedom of choice), and teach my children to do so for themselves. We will not do as we are told "just because", or because "It's always been done that way". We will discover for ourselves what is right, what is good for us and those around us (the world), and not just what seems like a quick fix for the moment.
We will care about the future generations: have a mindset of Seventh Generation as the natives did.

War on Cancer
Wikipedia:
The War on Cancer refers to the effort to find a cure for cancer by increased research to improve the understanding of cancer biology and the development of more effective cancer treatments, such as targeted drug therapies. The aim of such efforts is to eradicate cancer as a major cause of death......
Despite significant progress in the treatment of certain forms of cancer (such as childhood leukemia[2]), cancer in general remains a major cause of death nearly 40 years after this war on cancer began,[3]
I hate that phrase: War on Cancer.
I understand the original reference, the commitment to finding a cure, and discovering the causes. But after 40 years of this 'war' the culprit(s) and treatments have already been discovered, and yet that information continues to be virtually ignored by allopathic doctors and the pharmaceutical industry, and the people who trust them. They are still looking for 'the cure', but ignorantly reject the clear evidence of an answer that doesn't come in a package they can sell (ie. no money to be made). And so they keep on searching, while people with cancer die because the truth isn't shared, or acknowledged, or embraced.
I believe that for many, many people, the possibility that the choices that they have made in their own lives might have played a major role in them having cancer is just too much for their pride to handle. It is easier for them to believe that they just got the short end of the stick. Or somehow its just the roll of the genes.
I can't say that 100% of cancers are self- or environmentally induced. That would be presumptuous. But I do believe that cancer and other diseases are more from our lifestyles then they are by randomness and our genes.
There's more to read about the War on Cancer over at Dr Mercola's site and The Health Ranger also has something written by Dr. David Jockers about how to prevent cancer in the first place.

Gerson Therapy
If you haven't heard of the Gerson Therapy, you ought to give a listen. It's something either you or a loved one will likely have to deal with.....the treatment for cancer. Get informed today, so that if you are in that unfortunate situation, you won't panic and give in to the standard poisoning treatments.
It's worth noting that oncologists don't choose chemo and radiation for themselves if they end up having cancer themselves. They themselves chose alternative treatments. Something to consider.

International Medical Council on Vaccination Refutes Vaccine Propaganda with Myth-Busting Report
NaturalNews exclusive: International Medical Council on Vaccination refutes vaccine propaganda with myth-busting report
Vaccinations are a hot-topic, and with such high stakes as our children's health it is no surprise. But here we see the science has never been behind the vaccination programs. It's a myth that many medical and lay persons have bought into at the detriment of so many.
Please, give this a read, with an open mind.

Jack LaLanne
A health icon has died, at the age of 96.
A great role model for a lot of Americans, and the creator of one of our favorite juicers (for citrus juices) Jack LaLanne died after a short illness. Full of life until the very end. What a great example of Living Life.
Edited: to add a Natural News link honoring the man.

Pastured Cows are a Good Thing
We don't eat much at all for meat, and as I've shared recently we aren't actually vegetarians although I can identify somewhat with all the points for vegetarianism here.
But here is a sane (from my perspective) take on raising animals for meat.
But here is a sane (from my perspective) take on raising animals for meat.
I don't believe that its wrong nor inherently unhealthy for people to eat meat. But many of us grew up with a meat-and-potato diet (along with dairy products) and America's health seems to be a picture of dis-ease as a result. We are what we eat. And most of that seems to be processed and a chemical-cocktail.
It doesn't have to be an All-or-Nothing proposition. Eating meat can be an occasional (guilt-free) event, if that's what you are wanting.
But the mass raising of animals is not necessary for good health nor is it environmentally friendly.

Supermarket Secrets
This is a fascinating (although British) look at the operations behind Supermarkets, including the treatment of animals, the 'perfect' produce, the gases our salads are packed with, etc.
Eye-opening is an understatement.

Genetic Integrity
Mike Adams, The Health Ranger certainly comes up with some unique and thought provoking ideas which stimulate conversation and hopefully moves to action.
The article below is an incredible read, from my perspective. Some might take offense to it, but such is life.
I've heard it said many times "Offense is never Given. It's only Taken."
Women: Before getting pregnant, check out your man's diet

Sunlight is Good for your Health
So many people are afraid of the sun.
Everette and I took our youngest 3 to the big playground in town last week, and at only 10 in the morning I saw a mother who was all bundled up in long sleeves, jacket to her neck, full length pants, a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses on. Her toddler was similarly dressed, although he really didn't want to keep his hat on. She was far more successful getting him to keep his sunglasses on. And the older son who was likely 7-ish dutifully kept his sunglasses and hat on, and kept near arms-length from his mama.
Honestly, I thought this was sad. Sad that this good-intentioned-loving-mama was living in fear from the beautiful warm sun that blesses our days. Fear of cancer, premature aging, whatever. Fear to be exposed. And she was passing fear on to her impressionable children.
How entrenched are the ideas/lies we've been fed from 'Corporate America'? Can we not think for ourselves?
Here's a video from The Health Ranger to help us better understand the health we can get from eating properly and getting appropriate sun, and what dangers may lie ahead if we avoid sun exposure, and why suntan lotion might be the culprit behind much of the skin cancer that's occurring.
I found Mike's video enlightening and refreshing. Because I'm tired of people being so afraid of the sun, and even tanning salons. Dr Mercola says to stay away from tanning beds that make a noise when running (other than the actual timer ticking), but that tanning beds and standup tanning lamps are a boon to your health, particularly during winter months and those living farther away from the equator.
Consider whose been funding the nonsense of the media we've been gobbling up for decades. Who is bound to lose money if we have a greater understanding of our bodies and a healthy relationship with the (free) sunshine God has blessed us with?
Inform yourself. Think for yourself. Love on yourself.

Orthorexia Nervosa
Years back during one of my pregnancies I recall sitting at the 'golden arches' wolfing down a burger, fries and a chocolate shake. Not one person made a comment about what I was feeding our unborn child.
Fast forward a few years, when I was pregnant with Gaelyn and I started eating high raw wholefoods. The comments started flying. It raised concern in people, enough to question me and my food choices. Suddenly, people were concerned whether I was eating enough protein, gaining enough weight, getting enough nutrients. It crossed my mind at the time how bizarre their concern was. I was eating real food, live food, whole foods. Yet they seemed more relaxed if I was eating processed, deep-fried, dead foods, or something marketed and sold as 'food'.
Well, I found this recent article by The Health Ranger very interesting and not at all surprising.
Choosing healthy foods now called a mental disorder
I would now be lumped in with those suffering mildly with orthorexia nervosa.
And yet I have made a general observation amongst the people we knew before leaving almost 3 years ago. Those who don't take much notice of what they eat and still consume quite a lot of animal products.....they have gained weight, particularly in the gut. Unfortunately, in our society, they are considered 'normal' with 'normal eating habits'.
I encourage you to eat whole foods, predominantly raw like God made them. Eat what your great-grandmother would recognize as food. Your body will thank you. But you might be labeled as having a psychological problem.
Them's the risks.
I'm willing to take them.

Eat Yourself Happy!
Can you really eat your way to happiness? The mood food connection
Whether we like to admit it or not, we know that our foods effect how we feel. And generally, how we feel effects the food choices we make. Repeating this over and over results in the health or lack of health that we live with, and the emotions we deal with along the way.
Summer (haven't seen much of it around here yet, but still hopeful) is the perfect time to increase those raw foods, keep it simple (like watermelon for supper), get your barefoot and hands connected to the earth and get some healthy sun rays. These actions will all help you feel more emotionally stable and in charge of your life.
Do it for yourself. You deserve it!

Tea Party at School?
This morning for some odd reason I was recalling a conversation a few years back at a homeschool meeting where a mom was talking about how she has a weekly Tea Party with her girls as part of her homeschool curriculum. I asked her "You actually consider that part of their curriculum?" to which she replied along the lines of "Absolutely! I think it's important that they learn manners and how to serve one another."
This morning, just like back at that meeting, I was thinking how odd it is that we consider normal everyday events or life skills as needing to be taught as school curriculum.
Isn't it strange to break our life down into little lessons to teach? Shouldn't our children be learning these things thru life experience, living in family, living in community? If our children are engaging with people of all ages around them, they should be learning by example many of the things that they need for being established adults. Not necessarily on a time-schedule as set out by an 'educational board', but when the opportunity and the interest of the child arises.
I think I might have a Tea Party today with Gaelyn who is looking for A Date with Mom after I was away for 4 nights, but I think we'll just use it to reconnect and enjoy each others company. I think a Tea Party is a great idea to connect. I just find it strange that we take that sort of thing and make it a course. Like PE. Isn't exercise best to just be part of life (both work AND fun?) rather than a course?

Excitotoxins
I'm a subscriber to NaturalNews (highly recommended!), and today I received this letter from the editor, Mike Adams. I have enclosed it in its entirety, which has a free 14-page download included about MSG, Aspartame & other Excitotoxins. Take some time to educate yourself about your food and its hidden ingredients. Take care of your body, and it will take care of you.
Blessings,
Karen

Dear readers,
It's a clever (but downright devious) strategy for selling more food and boosting the profits of food corporations.
But the truth about these chemicals -- known as excitotoxins -- is never explained to consumers. The food companies don't want you to know that these chemicals cause obesity, infertility, migraines and cancer, among other health problems.
Dirty food company secrets revealed!
Now, in an exclusive Mike Adams interview, Dr. Russell Blaylock reveals the startling truth about these common taste-enhancing chemicals: monosodium glutamate, aspartame, yeast extract, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, autolyzed proteins and more!
Download the full interview right now at:
http://downloads. truthpublishing.com/Aspartame_ Truth.pdf
http://downloads.
In this tell-all interview, you'll learn:
-
How MSG and aspartame are related to cancer, obesity, neurodegenerative diseases, and metabolic disorders. -
How food companies hide MSG on food labels by using a "secret code" of innocent-sounding ingredients. -
Why kids eating Splenda may end up with suppressed immune systems. -
How the manufacturers of artificial sweeteners enforce scientific censorship on the dangers of their products. -
The real reason why the American Diabetes Association won't speak out against aspartame. -
Why yeast extract is more dangerous than monosodium glutamate. -
The hidden link between soy and dementia. -
Why many foods labeled "all natural" aren't healthy -- or natural! -
How you can slow MSG and glutamate absorption using nutrients and herbs. -
How aspartame both causes and accelerates cancer. -
Why the pharmaceutical industry needs MSG to help create more patients.
... and much more. Read it yourself at:
http://downloads. truthpublishing.com/Aspartame_ Truth.pdf

Check your food labels nowHow common are these dangerous ingredients? Check the ingredients labels of the food in your pantry right now. Look for yeast extract, aspartame or monosodium glutamate. Also check for any ingredient that's hydrolyzed or autolyzed. If you spot any of these, you have excitotoxins in your food!
You'll find these excitotoxins in:
-
Diet soda -
"Sugar-free" drinks and sweets -
Canned soups -
Frozen pizza -
Vegetarian foods, including veggie burgers -
Snack chips -
Diabetic foods -
Salad dressing -
Breakfast sausage -
Beef jerky and chicken strips -
Frozen foods, even "natural" ones -
Instant dinner mixes -
Baby food -
Ranch-flavored dips and sauces -
Gravy mixes and dip mixes -
Bullion cubes and flavor packets
... and hundreds of other grocery products and restaurant foods.
As Dr. Russell Blaylock explains, these excitotoxin ingredients are known to promote:
-
Migraines -
Seizures -
Neurological disorders -
Blurred vision -
Increased appetite / overeating -
Infertility and reproductive disorders -
Impaired brain function -
Cancer / brain tumors -
Heart damage and cardiovascular harm -
Endocrine system damage (affecting hormones)
If you suffer from any of these symptoms or conditions, it is imperative that you download and read this interview today. Get it at:

Chia Seeds
Pack Your Nutrient Dense Smoothies with Chia Seeds
We eat chia seeds quite a bit around here. We sneak them in smoothies, and we actually make chia pudding....a couple of different ways. If you soak the seeds 5-10 mins (about 1 part seeds to 4 parts liquid) with something to sweeten it, you end up with something that resembles tapioca, but the seeds are a little crunchy. I make it with water or almond milk, then add sliced bananas, chopped walnuts or pecans, and chopped dates.
My favorite way to eat chia seeds is what I call Lucuma Pudding.
I soak the seeds with almond milk and 1/4 c lucuma, blend on high speed until creamy smooth. Then I add whatever I want to add, usually chopped nuts and dates. Or my other favorite is when I soak the seeds (1/4 c) in 2 cups almond milk. I let sit for about 10 minutes, stir, then place in fridge till the morning. This is more like tapioca. I scoop over top 1/2-1 banana, then sprinkle with chopped walnuts, dates and coconut. Yummy. That was this mornings breakfast. And the chia seems to stick for hours, keeping me full.
When we drove across the country, sitting for long days of driving, I would take a heaping Tablespoon of these seeds, just plain. They get a bit gummy on the teeth, but that provides entertainment while I drive! And it keeps me regular.

Do You Have a "Nature Deficiency" ?
I think The Health Ranger, Mike Adams, is my favorite on-line writer about issues pertaining to health. I've shared his thoughts before, and here is another article I wanted to share with you. It is something I definitely have a deficiency in, and I get chilled just thinking of going outside here today on Cape Breton. Seems the older I get, the more I hate to be cold.
I'm still dreaming of a warmer location to reside in, and a huge part of the reason for that is because of the health benefits that are easier to attain there.
Anyways, here's the article by Mike. Not really anything profound.....just common sense that no longer is common!
Heal yourself in 15 days by correcting your "nature deficiency" (part nine)
I'd also add that sleeping with our windows open can certainly improve our health and sleep. When we sleep with the windows and doors closed, we are obviously breathing in stale air all night long. When our body is in a prime cleansing cycle, we should be aiding it in its job by providing fresh live air. You'll have a better sleep, and wake up totally refreshed.
